Annual General Meeting 2023 Minutes

 Call Meeting to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

 Zoom meeting housekeeping

Janet mentioned that the meeting would be recorded if anyone has missed the meeting. Janet reminded participants to mute themselves until they wanted to speak.

Call for a motion to approve the agenda. Rich Adam moved to accept the motion, and Jessica Vernon seconded the motion, and it was carried unanimously.

Opening Remarks – Janet McCallum

Janet introduced the board. She reviewed our successful social events that returned to be held in person this past year in 2022 and again in 2023.

Review of the minutes of the AGM held May 3,2022

Rich Adam moved to accept the minutes, and Vicky Batters seconded the motion. It was carried unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report – Rich Adam 

Rich Adam presented the treasurer’s report. Current bank balances are $7,374.00 in the general fund, and $1.990 in the environmental fund.  Janet mentioned that the Independent grocery in Huntsville has been very supportive of the association’s social events. Janet McCallum moved to accept the report, and Vicky Batters seconded the motion.  It was carried unanimously.

Guest Speaker Jeff Berthelette of the Invasive Species Awareness Program

Jeff gave an informative and concerning presentation on some of the invasive species that affect our lakes. He emphasized the need to clean boats and gear when moving them from one body of water to another.

Review of upcoming events

·       Fun Day: Saturday Aug. 5, 2023

·       Corn Roast: Saturday, September 2,2023

·       Boat Parade Sunday, July 2, 2023

Janet mentioned that volunteers are always needed for these events.

Swag sales will be happening again this year.

 

Election of board members

Jessica Vernon, Vicky Batters, and Geoff Brown are willing to stand for positions again.  As no one has stepped forward to stand for election, they are acclaimed. The board reserves the right to appoint another member.

New Business

Huntsville Tree Care and K and K sanitation are offering discounts to LWRA members. Please see the website for details.

Greg Heller reminded residents that Smallmouth Bass season does not open until June 4.  Catch and release is not allowed out of season.  If you hook one by accident, you must return it to the water immediately.

Greg also asked about updates on Treasure Island. It is currently listed.  At this point there is no construction of a driveway.

Glen Norton mentioned that a few years ago, the association asked residents to reduce their use of Blueberry Island in order to allow vegetation to regrow. People have been using it in the last few years. Glen was wondering if the board would take this on again. The board will add this to their agenda.

Laurie Guttman moved to close the meeting. Jessica Vernon seconded the motion. The meeting was brought to a close at 8:34 pm.
